Description
Here is a great blue heron in my backyard on Hilton Head, South Carolina. It has what I first thought to be a snake in its mouth. Actually it is an eastern glass lizard. The lizard breaks off a piece of its tail to try to distract its captor but that didn't work. After 5 minutes of fighting the heron was able to tire the lizard out and get it down the throat.
