Artist's Description
This Fall and Winter we have about 50-60 black bellied whistling ducks where I live on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. They are tree ducks but will sometimes be on the water. They eat along the edges of our lagoons. Male/female coloring is the same and they mate for life. It seems early but the way these ducks were jumping around was similar to what I have seen other bird species do as a mating ritual.
