Here on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina this brown headed nuthatch has feet the quarter of its body length, Here it uses them to hang on to the side of a bird box. There are only about a million of these lovely small birds and they are native to the Southeast. They don't migrate so we see them all year long.
Jerry Griffin retired after a career with Eastman Kodak and is living in Hilton Head, South Carolina. In his photographic career he has been a judge, author, consultant, teacher and speaker across the U.S. He has won over 250 medals and ribbons in international salons. His works have been hung in the Kodak CEO's office. After retiring he served as the Kodak Ambassador in the National Parks and on cruise ships.
